Privacy
Draft of 19 October 2026.
The short version
- This site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
- There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Fonts and images come from this site, not from a third party.
- The only personal data collected is what you type into the newsletter form. It is used to email you about ESPnomad boards, and only after you confirm your address.
Who is responsible
ESPnomad, run by Toon Nelissen [TODO: legal form, company number, VAT number and postal address]. You can reach me at [TODO: contact email] for anything in this text.
Visiting the website
The site runs on a server of Scaleway in the Netherlands [TODO: confirm Scaleway's company details]. To send you a page, the server necessarily receives your IP address and the page you ask for. The web server is set not to keep an access log, so I do not keep a record of who read which page. The server software may log technical errors, and if a connection fails such a line can include your IP address. These logs are only used to fix problems and are rotated automatically, so old entries disappear[TODO: state the retention period once it is set]. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in delivering and securing the site (GDPR article 6(1)(f)).
Cookies
None. Because there are no cookies and nothing is stored on your device, there is no cookie banner.
The newsletter
If you sign up on this page, I collect:
- your email address;
- the time you ticked the consent box and where you signed up (for now always the launch page);
- the answers you chose to give: the kind of home you have, whether you are a DIY builder or a professional, your system voltage (12 V, 24 V, 48 V), the boards you would like to hear about, and the optional free-text note. Please do not put anything sensitive in the note.
Why: to email you about releases, bench results and wiring lessons, and to decide which boards to finish first.Legal basis: your consent (GDPR article 6(1)(a)). It is a double opt-in: you only join the list after clicking the link in a confirmation email.Withdrawing: every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also write to me. Withdrawing does not affect what happened before.
Who processes it: the list and the emails are handled by Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France)[TODO: confirm Brevo's company details, a signed data processing agreement, where the data is stored, and what Brevo records when you click the confirmation link]. My own signup server, running on the Scaleway machine mentioned above, passes your answers to Brevo and does not store them itself. It briefly keeps your IP address in memory (up to ten minutes) only to stop one visitor from submitting the form again and again; that is not written to a file or log. Its log contains no email addresses, only a one-way code that lets me match error messages to a signup.
How long: until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete your data[TODO: decide what happens after unsubscribing, for example deletion within 30 days, and how long Brevo keeps unsubscribed contacts].
Other websites
The site links to the ESPnomad shop on Lectronz and to GitHub. Those are separate companies with their own privacy policies, and what they do with your data starts when you click through. Orders are handled by Lectronz, not by this site.
Where your data goes
Only to Scaleway (hosting) and Brevo (newsletter), as described above. I do not sell data or share it for advertising.[TODO: confirm that neither provider moves the data outside the European Economic Area, or describe the safeguards if they do.]
Your rights
You can ask me for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable format. You can withdraw consent at any time. Write to [TODO: contact email] and I will answer within one month. If you think I handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be).
Security
The site is served over HTTPS only. The signup server does not give out information about who is already on the list. The servers are kept up to date and are reachable only through the ports a website needs.
Changes
If this text changes, the date at the top changes with it.
