ESPnomad™

ESPHome hardware · 12 V · 24 V · 48 V

Small ESPHome boards for the van you actually live in.

Modular, wide-voltage boards for campers, RVs and tiny houses. Flash them with ESPHome, join them with Qwiic, and run your van without a cloud account.

Horizon V1.0 · the main board

Built because my own van needed it.

I'm Toon. I live in a van, I like fixing things, and I kept running into the same wall: controllers that only speak one voltage, one protocol, one app.

So I started designing the boards I wanted to wire in myself. Each one does a single job, they talk over Qwiic, and you configure them with ESPHome. I install them in my own van first. Whatever holds up there is what I share.

If you already run ESPHome and Home Assistant, you'll feel at home.

The two boards that have been in my van since August.

Wide voltage

Rated for 12 V, 24 V and 48 V systems, with margin for voltage spikes and the absorption voltages of LiFePO4 packs.

One brain, small boards

Horizon runs the show. Lights, relays, sensors and meters join it over Qwiic or a WAGO terminal.

Plain ESPHome

Your setup is YAML you can read, change and keep in Git. No account needed to run it.

The boards

Honest status for each one, with the specs I'm designing to. Open a board to see what's on it, and add the ones you'd like to hear about.

Coming soon

Designs are frozen and headed for the first batch.

Horizon

Main board

The ESP32-S3 brain of the family. Takes your battery voltage directly and gives every other board something to plug into.

Zephyr

Air and motion sensor

A small round Qwiic board that tells you how the air in your van is doing, and whether the van is level.

Prototype

On the bench. Specs may still shift.

Meridian

Battery monitor

Current, voltage and state of charge for your house battery, read over Qwiic.

Solstice

Power distributor

A quiet, passive 12 V rail with two fused outputs. No firmware, nothing to configure.

Eclipse board, angled view render

Eclipse

Load switch

Switches a heater mat, pump or fridge from ESPHome. If anything goes wrong, it fails off.

Aurora board, angled view render

Aurora

LED dimmer

Smooth dimming for plain analog LED strips, including warm and cool white, controlled over Qwiic.

Pulsar

Addressable LED driver

Level-shifts and powers addressable strips so ESPHome can run effects on them.

In the making

Started, but early.

Renogy Modbus

RS-485 interface

Reads your Renogy gear over two independent RS-485 lines, one RJ45 each.

Multi-channel Eclipse

Load switch, more channels

The same fail-off relay idea with more channels on one board.

Renogy inverter controller

Remote inverter control

Switch your Renogy inverter on and off from ESPHome and read its status LED, while keeping the original wall panel.

Available now

NSPanel Pro DC power backplate for 12 V, 24 V and 48 V

A DC power backplate that lets you run the Sonoff NSPanel Pro straight from a 12 V, 24 V or 48 V van, RV or tiny-house system. I already sell it, and it's the first ESPnomad™ product you can order today. It's available on Lectronz.

Build your setup, describe what you need, get the YAML.

Next to the shop I'm building a place where you place your boards, link them, and tell an assistant what you want your van to do. It knows how each board is wired, so the ESPHome config it drafts starts from your actual hardware. You can share a setup with others, or start from theirs.

1 · DESCRIBE

I want to see my battery's state of charge, dim the ceiling lights, and switch the floor heating from my phone.

Meridian on the battery, Aurora for the ceiling strips, one Eclipse for the floor mat. Draft YAML is on the right. Check the shunt value before you flash.
